wedding stuff, naturally :)

In the course of trying to find a wedding venue that meets our standards and price, we have come across The Natural Bridge Inn & Conference Center and have decided to see what they offer. It certainly would be picturesque and really cool to have a wedding in the mountains (which is that I've wanted all along!). Its so close to VMI that we could even get pictures there if we wanted (although I doubt we will). So, i'll update you all when i get a response to my email.

I spoke with Kelly at The Sheraton North, near Washington DC, today on the phone and it doesn't seem at this time that they are out of our price range. I sent her an email with 5 questions that will hopefully clear that up. They offer a lot of bang for your buck, but their bar prices are pretty high.

I wonder, with the economy the way it is, if places are willing to work with you to find things to fit your budget. I mean, I guess it's similar to walking onto a car lot and paying what the sticker price is. They aren't going to offer you things for free as a bonus, but if you ask for it, or suggest that you wont use them, they may be willing to reduce their prices or throw in some incentives for free. We'll see. The thrifty/ "cheap" side of Colleen may be close to rearing its face!! I am not above negotiating with these people. The wedding business is such a rip off.

I also got a tidbit of info from a college friend of mine. She said that she got a 3 tiered wedding cake with real flowers from Walmart for $100.00. She said it tasted great and was such a bargain! I had not thought about them. i might just have to find out what I can get! Heck...at the end of the night, people are going to be too boozed up or dancing to even care about how the cake tastes. As long as it's pretty (and affordable), thats all I care about.

well, I have my ER clinical tomorrow, so I'm going to start getting ready for bed. G'night everyone!
