A day of love

This Valentine's Day, Eric and I decided not to exchange gifts. Our money is tight and it just seemed to make sense this year. We are going out to dinner tomorrow, when there wont be the horrible Valentine's Day rush. This day is not meant to be an expression of how much money a person can spend on another person. It is not about expensive flowers, or diamonds. It's about remembering how much you love that special person in your life and giving thanks to that person for everything they do for you throughout the year. Of course, it is nice to get something sparkly or something tasty on this special day, but if you can't or don't, it's OK. Eric and I will spend today just like any other day, but acknowledging it is one day closer to spending the rest of our lives together and loving each other forever. Next year we will buy something for each other that is special, but for now, our love is special enough :)

I'm spending the day studying and waiting on the people to come replace the glass window in my room that cracked. I feel like I have a pretty good grip on this unit's material and I am not stressing about it. The teacher lecturing on it makes it very simple and tells you what you need to know. It does not hurt either that we covered 1/2 the material last year!! (so, its a nice refresher!).

I'm trying not to think too much about wedding stuff, so that i can keep my focus. It is hard though. I want to look at pictures and dream up ideas. Eric does not want me to do any cake decorating on our wedding day. He said that it is a day for me to relax and enjoy. He said it wont be much fun if I am spending our wedding morning setting things up and working. He's right....I just dont think he realizes we're gunna end up paying to have someone else do it. I guess in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather pay $100 more and not have to worry about it. I told him that I wanted to get my hair and make-up professionally done that morning. I want to spend it with my girls (and mom & future MIL) and have fun! I want to relax and enjoy every moment. I think I'll call around to different bakeries and see what the cheapest is that they can do wedding cupcakes. When Eric and I go down to NB this spring, we can always stop by a couple places and get quotes. I'm just not going to worry about it!

I still plan to make all the bouquets and boutineers and centerpieces ahead of time, but that wont require any "day-of" making. I'm okay with that.

So, I love the idea of  making my centerpieces using Mason Jars
and wildflowers....similiar to this picture to the right, but using our color wildflowers & hydrangeas. It gives that natural, rustic feel, as well as it being fairly cheap and tying in with our rustic-wildflower theme. I want to use burlap on the mason jars instead of ribbon, to give a more rustic feel.

I'm so excited. I can barely contain myself. Everytime I look at the picture below, I fall more in love with the wedding idea. How beautiful is that, really!?

How much more natural and rustic can you get? I'm wondering if I should get an isle runner, or just keep it all natural? I am also wondering if it will be cool to just leave the benches "as-is" or, if I should ass any decoration it.....I love the idea of it being all-natural, but I also want it to be beautiful. Maybe once we get there in person, we can determine what kind of decorations would accent it, without taking about its natural-ness.....

I'm hoping to also get pictures with Eric not at the bridge. There was another wedding that took place there and they had pictures taken of them in a field....and it's beautiful. (photo courtesy of http://www.leodruker.com/kathy-matt/ )

Well, thats all my wedding ramble for today. Its nothing new, just indulging in wedding thoughts on this day of love :)

  1. If you do end up going with Brinn for the pictures, she knows her way around Boxerwood and that would definitely tie in with your rustic theme...fields of tall grass, natural, etc. We had some of our family pics done there. It's really pretty!
