Luv on a budget

I have probably been driving poor Kelli from the Natural Bridge Hotel & conference center CRAZY with all my e-mails and questions! She has been fantastic though and she answers every e-mail promptly. She told me today that they only require a $500.00 deposit, which goes towards your final bill, to book the space! Some of these other places require up to 20% of your estimated final bill! She also informed me that for $63.50, the staff will put on and take off the chair covers and sashes for our tables! I found a great site online called Discount Chair Cover.com and they charge only $1.85 per chair cover and $.70 for each sash, plus NO S&H!!! I am super stoked that we will be able to do the rentals for so cheap!!

Since professionaly made cakes/cupcakes are so expensive, we will probably have a grocery store make like 75 bulk cupcakes with 1 or 2 icing colors and then Beverly and I are going to make fondant cake decorations and just add them ourselves. Beverly has been doing cakes for years, so she'll be able to guide me in the right direction! Here is what they will look like:

Arent they just adorable?!? I will do them in the colors that I need so that they stand out, but since I'm thinking of doing a "wildflower/rustic" theme, I thought these little buggers were just the cutest!

As for other aspects of my life, I have to go to Richmond tomorrow and spend the night so that we can be at this VA legislator thing bright and early Wednesday morning. It's annoying that this is a school requirement and it is costing so much money. (50.00 for the day + 50.00 for the hotel +food). As if life weren't already expensive enough for me. I do not have it in my budget for things like this. Should I be lucky enough and get hired this summer and start working this summer, life will get so much easier for me in terms of money. If I dont and I have to waitress or something, my life is going to continue to suck on such a tight-ass budget. I hate being broke!!! ah, well. I guess I'll just make the best of it and think of it as just one more obstacle to get through to get to that graduation day. BTW, only 100 days until graduation!!!! whoop whoop!!!!

 100 days and counting.....

  1. We could definitely do those flowers. I have all the stuff. We can do different shades of purple and some white with purple centers. We will still have to do them early, one week for coloring and one week for setting. We will need, depending on how many flowers, at least...19 egg cartons. Dozen size.

I have some other cut outs too we can try. What we can do is a couple of months prior, get together and just practice the shape/style flowers. With the tools we have we can pull and score the icing to shape it to whatever and make it really wild flower-y!!
