Well, I might be crafty and really good at being frugal, but it turns out that I'm not so much of a DIY'er. I went to Joann fabrics and Hobby Lobby today and spent more money than I should have expecting to be able to make these dark hair flowers. After 2 hours of wasted time, my end result was nothing of which i would even give to a prisoner. It looked horrible! All this came after trying my hand at picking out a bunch of flowers that would look good as a bridal bouquet. At least i realized that it wasn't going to work before I forked out the money.
I did how ever get a great idea of possibly making all my wedding flowers Wildflowers. I mean, what is more appropriate for a rustic wedding than whimsical and chaotic wildflowers? They look beautiful. They are so natural and found all along I81 and are in bloom in June! [I'm not sure if I will go for the real thing or not....the fake ones look pretty damn real at Hobby Lobby today...and if you go when they have their 50% off sale, im sure I could get some great deals!] I don't know. I hate the idea of having to pay a florist an arm and a leg for them to give me flowers that are going to die. I have a hard time paying the amount of money florists charge for wedding flowers. Maybe I'm strange, but wedding flowers are so cliche. Almost all brides have these perfectly put together balls of roses, with a couple accents here and there and they cost upwards of $300.00. Typical, right? Why does every bride fall for that? Is it because it's become the "norm" for brides to have these enormous, overpriced bouquets? Additionally, I can even meet with a florist near Natural Bridge, unless I make a trip there. Who the heck knows when that will happen and if I'll even get what I want. I suppose once we settle and pick out the venue and bridesmaid dress we know for sure we're going to use, then i'll start worrying about flowers.
For now, I'm giving up the idea of making hair flowers, which sucks because I have like 2 yards of tule and 2 yards of purple satin. What the heck am I going to do with that now? Should have saved my money and bought a new shirt, or pair of pants. LOL.
For your entertainment, here are some random wildflower bouquets I found when i googled it. (I personally like the 3rd one the best, but as "put together" as it is, i'm sure it's not a cheap bouquet :(
