DIY bridal/wedding flowers

In my quest to planning our wedding on a budget, I went into Michaels today to look at their assortment of silk flowers. Let me just say for the record...they have TONS! While they aren't exactly that cheap, if you catch them on their 50% off sale (on flowers), then it becomes really reasonable. I took some pictures while I was in the store so that I could remember what I saw and liked later on. Here are some examples of what I came up with in the spot in the store. Obviously they would need to be put together and have some stuff added to it, but that would be an easy way to cut down on costs!

Example 1: ( $7 in flowers + $5 in accessories per bouquet) I would make the bridal bouquet larger with other colors added too.

Example 2: (the yellow looks much lighter in the first picture than thr 2nd, but the 2nd is what it would actually look like.) [ $8 in flowers + $5 in accessories per bouquet]

Example # 3: white rose bouquet. About $18 for flowers + $5 in accessories per bouquet. I would probably make the bridal one larger with more color so that it's not all white

So, as you can see....instead of going to the florist and saying...."well, I have a puny flower budget, what can you do with X amount of dollars," I can find pictures of bouquets online, take them with me to Michaels, buy the silk flowers and put them together myself. They wouldn't die or wilt. Besides, other than for the ceremony, no one even pays attention to the flowers. Silk ones look just as pretty in pictures anyways. Hell, why should I have to buy into the Florist's exorbitant prices just because it's the "norm?"

  1. Keep an eye on the sales papers for Michaels coupons and also if you sign up for Michaels e-newsletter they often times will have coupons too. Some of them are even good for sale items, so that would definitely help bring some costs down!
